Health & Wellness Partners

Designing an interactive, accessible website to clarify services and showcase culture.

  • Health & Wellness Partners (HWP) is a women-owned medical communications firm supporting healthcare and science organizations through event planning, content creation, speaker programs, and strategic consulting.

The goal of this project was to redesign HWP’s website to clearly communicate their services, modernize the visual experience, and highlight company culture and careers, while maintaining accessibility standards and a professional, credible presence in the healthcare space.

My role focused on UI design, visual systems, and interaction design, working closely with UX, development, and content partners.

    The challenge

    • Communicate Paragard’s unique value in a hormone-dominated category

    • Improve mobile usability (76% of users accessed the site on mobile)

    • Reduce friction around a deeply personal healthcare decision

    • Balance education with clarity, without overwhelming users

The experience needed to feel trustworthy, approachable, and empowering at every touchpoint.

    • Clarify what HWP does and how their services are differentiated

    • Create a modern, interactive experience that feels dynamic but polished

    • Highlight HWP’s culture and employer brand to attract talent

    • Ensure the interface supported accessibility best practices

  • Interface principles

    • Clean layouts with strong hierarchy to reduce cognitive load

    • Modular sections to organize complex service offerings

    • Visual motion used intentionally to guide, not distract

    Visual system

    • Bold, legible typography to establish authority

    • Vibrant gradients and color accents to convey innovation

    • Modern iconography and human-centered imagery

    • WCAG-aware color contrast and readable text sizing

  • Interactive elements were used to enhance understanding and engagement without overwhelming users.

    Key interaction patterns

    • Hover states on cards, buttons, and icons for responsive feedback

    • Expandable and modular content sections to reveal depth progressively

    • Smooth transitions between sections to maintain visual flow

    • Interactive presentations of proprietary solutions (e.g., HWP Engage, HWP Connect)

Animations were designed to feel purposeful and restrained, reinforcing hierarchy and usability across devices.

  • While development and UX strategy were owned by other team members, I collaborated closely to ensure the UI translated cleanly into the final build.

    Collaboration highlights

    • Worked alongside developers to maintain design fidelity and responsiveness

    • Supported design handoff and QA to validate layouts, animations, and breakpoints

      • Partnered with content and stakeholders to balance depth with readability

  • Content density
HWP’s broad service offerings risked overwhelming users.
Addressed through modular layouts, progressive disclosure, and clear visual hierarchy.

    Interactive constraints
Dynamic elements introduced image and layout challenges.
Resolved by defining strict image and component parameters early.

    Engagement without friction
Animations needed to enhance, not slow, the experience.
Motion was refined to be lightweight, fast, and purposeful.Item description
